The sixth version of the Walloon Environmental Outlook, the “Key Environmental Indicators for Wallonia in 2012” (or KEIW 2012 for short) provides an overall picture of the environ-mental situation and performance of Wallonia via a set of environmental, socio-economic, legislative and health indicators. The diversity of the data collected, their objective and in-depth analysis and their presentation in an attractive form make this a unique docu-ment in Wallonia. Apart from being an instrument helping leaders and stakeholders from the socio-economic world in their decision-making, and being a reference document for report-ing statistical data to European and international agencies, KEIW 2012 is also an attractive communication tool, and a tool for educating the population and raising its awareness for the environment.
